Summer 2020 Update
Dear Kenwood & Evergreen Families,
With the heaviest of hearts, we have decided not to open Camps Kenwood & Evergreen for summer 2020. While some of you may have anticipated this, we know that it will be hard for you to read and will be disappointing news for your children – our beloved campers – to hear. Truthfully, this has also been an incredibly difficult conclusion for me to come to, as I so hoped to give you different news and have been working tirelessly to find a way forward over the past few weeks. I was singularly focused on analyzing and problem-solving.
Ultimately, the constantly shifting landscape and continuing uncertainty as to whether summer camps will even be permitted to operate made the decision clear this week. Even if we were able to open, this summer would not bear any resemblance to the camp experiences that we have worked to create each and every summer for the last 90 years. Please see our FAQ’s at the bottom of the page that explains the realities beyond this decision, which is driven by the trust you place in us each and every year to take care of your children.
I start each summer by telling your children that Camp is not about a place, it is about a community of love and support. We’ll continue to provide your children with a community that lifts them up, whether we’re together or apart. We are exploring the possibility of offering Family Camp to give you and your children the opportunity to visit Camp this summer, and will be in touch with more information about that next week.
When you are ready, please share this video message with your children:
We will be hosting follow up Zoom calls with their peers in the next week to process this news. If you feel that you or your child might benefit from an individual call with one of our leadership team, please let us know.
We miss you, but we know we’ll be together again.
With love from all of us,
