Camp friends hanging out together all year long!December 13, 2016
After the amazing Boston and Rhode Island camp reunion last Saturday, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking a lot about how wonderful and powerful it is that our community creates such fantastic camp friendships. Since the day Camp ended in August our campers, counselors, alumni, and event camp parents have been using their free time to hang out with the many friends they have met since joining our brother-sister camp community.
There have been campfires and marshmallow roasts on the beach, nights out in Boston, and friends out for dinner. There have been sleepovers and days skipping around NYC, and of course amazing bar mitzvah parties. This past weekend our girls got together to celebrate a friend’s dance performance, our seniors hung out in the city, and the camp families took in the sights in Orlando.
Just after the camp season ended many of our staff headed west to celebrate the summer, while others stayed local and hung out at the pool. Others went sight seeing around the US, and others had chance meetups. And, of coure, there were many, many, many birthday parties celebrated with camp friends.
Camp families got together after fun runs, at local restaurants, to celebrate important milestones, and at family holidays. And trying to keep the fun of the summer going as far into the winter as possible, there were many, many, many sleepovers.
As Camp Directors it makes us so happy to see that the most beautiful aspect of our brother-sister community — the camp friendships — does not diminish at all after everyone leaves our bucolic NH campus. Rather, they flower and bloom and keep us all sustained until we are fortunate to return again in June.
If you haven’t already, please make sure to mark down the date of our next Camp Reunion. It will be Saturday, January 28th at the Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT from 5:00-7:30pm. We hope to see you there!
