Our Wonderful Staff

A reassuring hug from a favorite counselorAt Kenwood & Evergreen we invest a great deal in our staff, recognizing the difference it makes in the experience of our children. Our campers live in spacious cabins of 7 or 8 campers and two full-time general counselors. General Counselors have one responsibility: to supervise and nurture the campers in their bunk and age group.  General Counselors spend their days with their campers, from teeth brushing to meal times to activities to putting them to bed. Our General Counselors model the behaviors that are a part of the Kenwood & Evergreen experience – warmth, fun, kindness, and caring.

General & Specialty Counselors

Our counselors encourage trying new activitesOur general counselors accompany their campers to activities, which are planned and supervised by specialty counselors.  Specialty counselors are qualified men and women who have been hired for their teaching and coaching skills, and are excited to instruct young people in their particular sport or art.

Staff Training

Counselors are always available for friendship & supportAs part of our commitment to our Camp community, all staff members are required to participate in an annual and lengthy, rigorous Staff Training.  Counselors and Specialists spend up to two weeks participating in seminars that focus on child development, bunk life management, anti-bullying strategies, coaching and teaching techniques, risk assessment, and much more.  We also bring in cutting-edge management and child development experts, such as Catherine Steiner-Adair, Michael Brandwein and Dr. Christopher Thurber, to address our staff.
