HERE’S WHAT SOME OF LAST SUMMER’S JUNIOR COUNSELORS HAD
TO SAY ABOUT THEIR JC WEEKEND
“I just wanted to say thank you for this weekend. I had the best time and I really did bond with a lot of the guys I know I hadn't talked to before. After this weekend I have learned so much about them!” “I made new friends, got reacquainted with old ones, learned about being a counselor, and got to be at camp…Yes, and I made friends in hut 6!” “I learned a lot about what this summer is going to be like, what being a counselor is like, and learned how excited for summer I really am!” “Seeing the people from my hut 6/Juniper was great…so many of them I haven't talked to or seen since I left camp, and I got to really know some of the girls much better than when we were campers. I feel we're a much better tighter unit now, both number-wise, and emotionally because we got to hang out together this weekend.” “I feel much more prepared to be a counselor. I probably would have had no idea what I was doing this summer if it weren't for the weekend.” “I wasn't nervous about the weekend, but rather I was unsure of what to expect. It had been almost two years since I had seen some of the returning JCS, and I wondered how it would be between us. I clearly had nothing to worry about, as we were back to where we had left each other within minutes.” “I learned more than I ever thought I would have at the JC weekend. It made me realize that being a counselor comes with many responsibilities, as we will constantly be caring for other campers. Just going over everything showed me how prepared I am for the summer, and that many of my fears were premature.” “I was able to reestablish my friendships immediately. The people at camp make it such a great place, and even two years were not enought to distance us from each other.” “I feel one hundred times more prepared to be a JC because of the weekend. It helped to relieve my fears, teach me how to handle many situations, and just overall be a good counselor and friend to my campers.” “More than anything, it made me excited for the summer to come.”
